The Story of a Ski

Built together

"Built Together" is born out of the passionate teamwork of the best freestyle and freeride athletes, experienced engineers, renowned artists, and our product management team. The result of this creative fusion redefines the process of ski construction and leads to innovative, stylish, and above all, authentic outcomes.

The Revolt Collection harnesses this diverse creative energy and concentrates all of that passion and expertise into the new skis. Skis that fit the needs of every true freestyle skier. Follow our story of "Built Together" and expect some of the most amazing products to be launched.

The Team

The selection of athletes is based on the product in question. In the development of the Revolt 90/84, athletes like Birk Ruud, Andri Ragettli, Kevin Rolland, and Alex Ferreira played a significant role, while for a Revolt 114, freeriders Ian McIntosh, Ross Tester, Kye Petersen, and Markus Eder were the focus. We place great importance on considering the specialized skills of athletes in line with the respective products and aim for a balanced mix of talents from both overseas and Europe.

Development Process

Völkl Product Manager Jean-Claude Pedrolini and ski engineer Lucas Romain, a former freeski pro, perfectly understand the needs and desires of the team riders. After creating the prototypes, an extensive testing phase follows with the athletes involved in the development. The team riders note the positive and negative characteristics of each ski and create a list of requirements for changes to be made in the next round.

This process repeats until a ski meets all the requirements, typically involving about six to seven tests per year. During these meetings, the designs and suggestions from artists are also discussed. Finally, the group decides which artist will create the designs.

The Artists

Pedrolini and his team search worldwide for artists. „What matters to us is that the designs for the different models tell a story that perfectly fits the ski and its riders. Each artist has their own approach and technique. That makes it so fascinating.“
