The Roadmap - SBTI

As part of its commitment to the SBTi, the EOC pledges to implement short- and long-term emission reductions across all twelve brands in line with the scientifically based net-zero target. This means the group commits to defining specific CO2 reduction targets within the next two years and submitting them to the SBTi for validation. These targets must comply with the Paris Climate Agreement and contribute to limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

As a near-term target, the company aims to reduce emissions by 50 percent by 2030. Its net-zero goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In addition to the SBTi commitment, the EOC has also set itself the target of reducing emissions by 80 percent by 2040.

Based on the year 2022, a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory was prepared for the entire EOC Group in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, covering all three scopes – i.e., both direct and indirect emissions. Based on this inventory, the group will define its targets and submit them for validation by the SBTi. As an internal milestone, the EOC has set itself the goal of submission by early 2026.

Once the umbrella brand targets have been validated, we at Völkl will actively implement them at the brand level. We are developing a concrete reduction roadmap and anchoring the measures within our corporate strategy to ensure that the emission targets are effectively achieved across all areas of the company.

What is SBTI?

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international climate organization that supports companies and financial institutions worldwide in making an active contribution to combating the climate crisis. As a non-profit organization, the SBTi develops standards, methods, and guidance that enable companies to set science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The SBTi operates as a charitable organization and has a subsidiary that provides validation services for climate targets. Its strategic partners include the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), the We Mean Business Coalition, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Total Emissions

Völkl produces the majority of its skis (81% in 2024) in Straubing, Germany.
19% are produced at the Elevate factory in Kaitai, China.

The emissions shown here refer to the Straubing factory and the distribution centers in Bogen and Parkstetten.

Emissions from the production site in China are included in the calculation of the EOC’s carbon footprint and are subject to the same reduction targets.

LIFE re-WINTER – Recycling ski gear for a sustainable winter sports industry.

LIFE re-WINTER is an EU-funded project introducing an industrial-scale circular model for ski equipment. Coordinated by Dalbello, with partners Marker, Völkl, Plasticsort, Innovando, DIWORKS, and RE SPORT, the project will collect 10,000 end-of-life skis, boots, and bindings from rental networks and transform them into new high-performance gear. The approach combines advanced recycling technologies to recover and reuse materials from complex multi-material products, preventing landfill and incineration. Recovered resources will be reintegrated into production to manufacture 1,000 new pairs of skis, boots, and bindings, proving that circularity can meet performance standards.
