The Wait Is Over – The FIS Ski World Cup Begins in Sölden

On October 25th, the women’s giant slalom will mark the official start of the FIS Ski World Cup season, followed by the men’s race on the following day. Around 30,000 spectators are expected on-site and can look forward to world-class competition, accompanied by a diverse and engaging event program.

Team Völkl will be represented by a strong group of international athletes. Sam Maes (BEL) and Jonas Stockinger (GER) both made it into the top 30 last year and are looking to score World Cup points again. Our other team members are equally determined to make their mark. After a summer full of intense training – including on-snow camps in Argentina and New Zealand – the athletes are ready to take on the season.

And Sölden will demand everything from them: with gradients of up to 68% and the high-altitude conditions on the Rettenbach Glacier, the opening races are a true challenge. We’re proud to support our athletes with cutting-edge technology and innovative ski equipment – to help them perform at their very best when it counts.

A special message comes from our athlete Tormis Laine:

“Sölden is a very special race for me – I’m really looking forward to it! Ever since I was a child and teenager, I was there live every year and always dreamed of one day standing at the start myself. Last year that dream came true, and I was able to celebrate my Giant Slalom World Cup debut in Sölden. Now I know the slope and the routines, and with the good preparation in New Zealand behind me, I’m ready to give it my all at the World Cup opener. And since I now live in Tyrol, it’s practically a home race for me.”

We wish all competitors a strong and successful start to the season – and we hope you enjoy the action on and off the slopes!
